A big part of what sets one paint job apart from the rest is the wet sanding and polishing that is done after the paint is sprayed and cured. Naturally as paint is sprayed and cures it dries with a certain amount of texture. Some products worse than others and the more coats required the effect can be compounded. This texture often called “orange peel” is present to some degree in all paint jobs and can be observed when taking note of the reflections in your paint. The smoother the paint the more in focus the reflections will be. Glassy smooth paint with clear focused reflections make a car jump out as somehow nicer than the rest. This takes a great deal of work and skill to achieve.
